Modeling

The definition of Modeling is the shaping of a form in some plastic material, such as clay or plaster, in drawing, painting, and printmaking, the rendering of a form, usually by means of hatching or chiaroscuro, to create the illusion of a three dimensional form. The medium of Modeling is clay or plaster, and hatching. I chose to do a sculpture by artist Robert Arneson. The sculpture is called “Laughing George.” This sculpture was most appealing to me because the face of George Washington caught my attention. All Arneson’s sculptures seem to be of people and come off as confusing because they are different. I noticed that all of Robert Arneson’s sculptures do not have bodies.
